Description
Rating: 95 pts James Suckling
Angélica Zapata Malbec 2020 is a refined blend crafted from Malbec grapes sourced from five distinguished vineyards in Mendoza. This wine stands out for its exceptional concentration, elegance, and complexity, the result of meticulous vineyard selection and careful aging.
Angélica Vineyard contributes ripe plum aromas, red fruit jam notes, and smooth, voluminous texture on the palate.
La Pirámide Vineyard brings deep black stone fruit aromas and spicy hints of black pepper and clove.
Nicasia Vineyard (Block 2) delivers forest red fruits, freshness, and elegant tannins.
Adrianna Vineyard (Block 3) adds intense floral notes reminiscent of violets and lavender, while Block 9 provides a dark, deep violet color, ripe black fruit aromas, mineral notes, and a long, persistent finish.
These five components blend harmoniously to create a complex, full-bodied Malbec—perfect to pair with a traditional Argentine asado.

About the Winery
Catena Zapata, a historic family-run winery founded in 1902, is currently led by third and fourth-generation vintners Nicolás and Laura Catena. Nicolás Catena Zapata is widely recognized as the visionary who revolutionized Argentine wine in the 1980s. By focusing on quality, planting vineyards at 1,500 meters above sea level, and leading the global reintroduction of Malbec—a once-forgotten French varietal—he transformed Argentina’s wine industry.
Catena Zapata has received numerous prestigious awards, including Decanter's "Man of the Year," Wine Spectator's "Distinguished Service Award," and "Winery of the Year" from multiple publications worldwide.
