Description
Score: 96 Points – James Suckling
Catena Zapata Birth of Cabernet 2021 is a bold and imaginative red blend that pays tribute to the mythical origin of Cabernet Sauvignon. Inspired by a whimsical tale of bees, war, and forbidden love, this wine blends history and winemaking art through an expressive bottle that unites Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a touch of legend.
Crafted from grapes grown in the high-altitude vineyards of Paraje El Cepillo and Agrelo, this wine is a powerful yet elegant expression of the varietals. The nose opens with dark fruit, spices, and a touch of floral lift. On the palate, it’s structured and layered, with velvety tannins, fresh acidity, and great aging potential. The complex blend reveals a polished mouthfeel with notes of cassis, cedar, and wild herbs, leading to a long, balanced finish.
