Description
Score: 97 Points – James Suckling
Launched with its first vintage in 1997, Nicolás Catena Zapata was Argentina’s first luxury cuvée to gain global recognition. Inspired by the original Bordeaux blends of the 18th and 19th centuries—when Malbec often held equal footing with Cabernet Sauvignon—this wine blends history, innovation, and high-altitude viticulture into one of Argentina’s most iconic reds.
Crafted from ungrafted pre-phylloxera selections of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage showcases extraordinary aromatic complexity, refined tannins, and a long, elegant finish. It is a benchmark of Argentine winemaking and a tribute to the visionary legacy of Nicolás Catena.
"This wine is a journey to the past, crafted from some of the highest and most distinctive vineyards in Mendoza."
